Five times the expression "Where I am" occurs in John's Gospel
1. Condemnation of the unbelievers - John 7:34
2. Confusion of the unbelievers - John 7:36
3. Compensation of His servants - John 12:26
4. Consolation of His disciples - John 14:3
5. Contemplation of His believers - John 17:24

1. Salvation
"This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief." 1 Timothy 1:15

2. Shepherding
"This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work." 1 Timothy 3:1

3. Sanctification
"But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation." 1 Timothy 4:7-9

4. Sacrifice
"It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with Him, we shall also live with Him." 2 Timothy 2:11

5. Service
"This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men." Titus 3:8

1. Suffer for own faults (1 Peter 2:20)
2. Suffer for evil doing (1 Peter 3:17, 4:15)
3. Suffer as a murderer (1 Peter 4:15)
4. Suffer as a thief (1 Peter 4:15)
5. Suffer as a busybody (1 Peter 4:15)

"Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour;
but about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is, My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?" Matthew 27:45-46

The centre of the seven sayings from the cross but appeared first and quoted most, five times. (Psalm 22:1, Matthew 27:46a,b, Mark 15:34a,b)

How awesome when the omniscient Christ uttered the word "Why"!

Why? Not the enquiry but the exclamation
Why? Not the answer but the anguish
Why? Not the reason but the reproach

Surely, this is the most holy ground and calls for our highest worship as we think of the sorrow of His death, the shame of His cross and the shedding of His blood when His Soul was made an offering for sin.

"We see Jesus .... by the grace of God He should taste death for every man" Hebrews 2:9

Sincere Bread
"My Father giveth you the true bread from heaven." John 6:32

Saving Bread
"For the bread of God is He which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world." John 6:33

Satisfying Bread
"I am the bread of life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." John 6:35

Sustaining Bread
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on Me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life." John 6:47-48

Sacrificial Bread
"I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." John 6:51
